Description

Seattle! Famed Pike Place Market with its fishmongers; the soaring Space Needle; beautiful Lake Union — these are just some of the sights that Pete and his parents enjoy during their trip. There's only one problem — Pete's dog Larry has disappeared. So Pete goes all over the Emerald City searching for his furry friend. Along the way he sees some amazing sights, including the Underground City, the Aquarium, Sea-Tac Airport, and much more. Young readers will delight in Pete's experiences on the way to being reunited with his beloved pet in this vibrantly illustrated book.

Summary: "My son loves this book!"

A friend of ours gave this book to our 2-year son as a present and he loves it. We live in Seattle and he has seen many of the things described in the book. He gets so excited to see the ferry boats and the flying fish at the market. We have read it over 100 times and I'm sure we will be reading many more times. I definitely recommend this book for those who live in Seattle or are planning to visit Seattle.

Summary: "This Is Larry, This Is Pete"

For anyone who has lived in Seattle, or wants to live in Seattle, or just plain likes Seattle, this is the book for you! In reality this book is for the children, but I enjoyed it as much as my grandson, Oliver.

Larry is the boy and Pete is the dog in this lovely story. They see Seattle at its best, Somehow Larry and Pete become separated and they find their way around this city. From the Ferry ride to Pioneer Square to the Pike Fish Market and all over the town. Oliver's parents found some excellent places to take Oliver while they explored the city, A few weeks ago they went to the Ballard Locks and had a wonderful experience.

Every child and every parent likes a good book. This is one of those books that child and parent will enjoy. It is a great deal of fun to explore your own city in a book and John Skewes and Robert Schwartz have found the perfect compliment in story and pictures. Great for ages 3-103.

Highly Recommended. prisrob 07-15-09

Summary: "Great book...and wonderful story"

This is a wonderful children's book with a fun story. The illustrations and use of color are awesome too. Larry is an adorable character and one you want to follow throughout the story. The use of Seattle landmark's is well done and one that adults and children will enjoy. I'd recommend this book--especially for people that visit Seattle (and those that live there too.)

My daughter recently was working in Seattle and my husband and I visited her there. We saw all of the spots except for a couple from "Larry Gets Lost in Seattle". The book is a surprise for our daughter...it will remind her of her days in Seattle. Excellent book if you are traveling to Seattle.

Summary: "Alternately Charming, Informative, And Evocative"

This is my 18-month-old son's favorite book at the moment -- despite the fact that he's never visited Seattle, owned a dog, or met anybody named Pete (yet). But you don't have to be a kid to enjoy this tome; it's also the ideal book for anybody with a passing interest in where the Mariners play, what "The Fremont Troll" looks like, and the process by which aesthetically magnificent design & lettering can be married to a punchy and always-compelling travelogue. Highly recommended.
